Application and Usage Guidelines

• Mandatory Base Layer: Must be applied over a "toothy" surface—specifically Golden Gesso—to ensure proper adhesion. It is not intended as a standalone gesso replacement.
• Application Protocol: For optimal performance, apply two coats. The first coat should be applied "neat" (undiluted). After drying (typically 8 to 12 hours), apply a second coat diluted with approximately 20% water to enhance leveling.
• Cracking Prevention: Avoid excessively thick applications. If significant texture or a thicker absorbent layer is desired, blend Golden Light Molding Paste into the ground to increase flexibility and prevent surface crazing.
• Post-Painting Protection: Due to its porous nature, the finished surface is delicate and prone to trapping dust. To protect the work, apply a spray-applied isolation coat followed by a Golden Varnish (Polymer or Mineral Spirit Acrylic) to seal the surface without disturbing the delicate washes.
